2km AG produces a range of machines for the processing of LSR (Liquid Silicone Rubber). LSR is a 2 component silicone addition cross-linked with platinum which rapidly cross-links at high temperatures. Given the especially favourable material qualities which are also guaranteed in a temperature range of between -50 °C to +200 °C, this synthetic material is used in many industrial sectors. One typical application is the process of injection moulding for the manufacture of mass-produced items such as; gaskets, baby dummies, shower heads, keypads, LED’s or other auxiliaries for the automotive and electrical industry. Additional, new use cases are the production of medical and pharmaceutical articles. Medical articles are then, for example, implants (temporary or permanent) or seals on implants (e.g. pacemakers). Pharmaceutical articles contain an active ingredient that releases its active ingredient into the body during its period of use (e.g. vaginal rings with progestorol).
